Several states have announced cancellation of board examinations following Centre’s cause cancel CBSE board examinations to guard students from coronavirus infections.
A group of scholars from Assam have petitioned the Supreme Court on Monday to cancel state board examinations for sophistication 10 and 12 to make sure equality with CBSE and other boards that have cancelled examinations. they need also challenged the state government’s criteria for holding examinations as flawed.
Several states have announced cancellation of board examinations following CBSE’s cause protect students from coronavirus infections. CBSE and other education boards have said they're going to come up with an alternate mechanism to rate students’ performances. However, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state will conduct board examinations in mid-July if the Covid-19 positivity rate within the state drops below 2% by Dominion Day .
“The questions papers are likely to be multiple-choice ones, allowing students to attain good marks. The exams are going to be held following Covid-19 protocol provided the positivity rate drops below 2%. If it's above that, we'll ask schools to guage the scholars ,” he said last week.
The students, who seek to hitch other petitions on an equivalent issue filed earlier within the Supreme Court, have also questioned the state government’s logic and said that the positivity rate on Dominion Day may need no relevance on the date when the exams are proposed to be conducted.
“Positivity rate data is extremely dynamic in nature which has the potential to extend or decrease exponentially within the span of but 24 hours,” the appliance filed through advocate Manu Jetley stated.
Test positivity rate refers to percentage of tested samples that end up to be positive it indicates the spread of the infection during a region.
Two independent health experts refused to discuss the difficulty saying the matter was legal .
